How Did LG Trick You Into Thinking They Had Good TVs: LG TV Handshake Issues

LG-TV-handshake-issues

LG TV handshake issue, we call the green glitch.

Hello everyone and welcome to our blog, “How Did LG Trick You Into Thinking They Had Good TVs: LG TV Handshake Issues.” Yes, this is really the title and no you are not being punked, for those who know, you know.

LG and Hisense, we are going to go in on your TVs, please don’t reach out because we don’t own anything from your brand, I know better. Just please, make better quality products for people.

So that is the real question, How did LG trick you into thinking they had good TVs in the first place?

Product placement with YouTubers. Tech YouTubers kept talking and talking about the amazing OLED that LG has but the low price of the TV told me the quality was questionable compared to Sony. We all know Sony makes the best tech products, so yes this will be LG vs. Sony. Samsung, I know you are a Korean company like LG but this is about top tier quality that LG pretended to be.

Wow, really that is how you are feeling. Yep, it’s now Gemini season in 2025 and everyone is getting it.

The price of TVs are getting cheaper, yea. NO! That goes for the parts too. OK, how is this a bad thing? TVs will not last as long and right now the TVs are having handshake issues with the Nvidia Shield Pros and a ton of other streaming devices, like the Firestick.

Bro, do I look like I want to buy an LG TV just to flash the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 on it? And at the same time, how, would I even know if it works. The handshake issue is a TV by TV issue.

I can’t ask someone to bring me their TV to test things out on, or can I?

MKBHD is the first YouTuber I remember reviewing LG OLEDs and after, everyone else started to follow the trend. Even now, up to 2025, even with the handshake issues all over reddit. YouTubers still review the LG TVs like they are the greatest thing since sliced bread and you all keep buying them. Each time getting shorter and shorter when it comes to replacing the TV in your home.

I don’t care for cheap products, this is why I don’t use streaming devices like the Onn Box, Firesticks, and so on. Budget products come with a price and that price is your valuable time and the headaches of trying to fix them when things go wrong. There is a saying down in the south, “When you buy cheap, you buy twice.”

Well, I like to say, “When you buy cheap, you buy twice and the second time, the cost is double.” Stop getting robbed by terrible companies and stop letting YouTubers tell you what is amazing. Go find out yourself, yes still watch the reviews but also look around online to see the problems something like a TV can cause you and ask yourself, do I have the TIME to solve this problem if it happens to me with this TV?

Let’s see if we can help you fix this LG TV handshake issues below.

The Big Problem With LG TVs and Streaming Devices in 2025

Nvidia Shield Pro hooked up to Hisense TV in 2025.

What is happening, why is LG TVs starting to have handshake issues? Well, LG decided somewhere to change there HDMI hardware, and in the result of that, streaming device are having handshake issues with green screen, glitching, and even just a black screen. Oh Hisense, you are on this list too.

At first, I thought is had something to do with the software system on our Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro. You know, since we flash the drive and downgrade it back to Android 9 version 8.2.1.

Then, we thought we had the issues under control, just have people with LG TV switch to 1080p, 60GHz on the Nvidia Shield Pro. But when the issues started to pop up on the Hisense TV it was even worst. With Hisense you couldn’t change the setting to 1080p, 60GHz, it wouldn’t work.

This made me first thing, well maybe we should update to Android 9 version 8.2.3 but this would bring back the Home Screen ads everyone is trying to get away from. When I started to notice it wasn’t the device I started to look up information about LG TV issues.

And bomb, on Reddit people were talking about this issue everywhere. Someone on the form discovered that this started to popup even more about 2020, with LG newest line up for TVs.

What Is the HDMI Handshake Problem?

Short explanation; signal mismatch between the TV and the streaming device when plugging into the HDMI input. This can cause the Home page of the streaming device to glitch green, be completely green, or be completely black. When this happens, I see the first thing people do is think it’s the device or their computer. When in fact the issue is the TV itself.

The information online is hard to find because you have to get through all the people talking good about the TV before you find the one’s that warn you about the TV and the issues it can have. Now, I will say I’m shocked to see this happening in two TVs, one is worse than the other.

But it is safe to say, there are TVs out there like Sony, which rarely has this issue. This is where buying quality matters the most.

Why HDR Fails on LG TVs When Using a Nvidia Shield Pro

We all know, how amazing the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 is in the right hands. The most powerful streaming device on the market with the best picture features supporting 4K, HDR, and Dolby Vision easily due to it’s 64-bit OS and hardware.

If this is so, how when hooked up to the LG TV HDR fails? When you try to change the setting in the device to 4K, DV the flickering starts. This is that handshake issue from the TV due to it’s cheap HDMI parts. Due to these new parts, come these new issues.

Even though LG claims to support everything in reality they are breaking compatibility with custom systems and elite setups by going cheap. Now this is not happening to them all but 1% is still a big number of TVs. This is all models of the LG TVs, one person has the expensive OLED and the HDMI ports are giving him issues with the Dolby Vision setup to the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019.

Another person bought one brand new out the box and couldn’t get the WiFi to work after trying for 4 hours and on the phone with support. That person returned the TV back and the LG sales person kind of did what they do, “Oh, I’ve never seen this before.”

Look, as a seller of a customized streaming device, it’s my business to know the issues that could happen. Weather I’ve seen them before or not, be prepared for everything. Your job is to fix the issue so the customers can have a great experience they remember making them want to come back for more.

LG Isn’t Alone — Why You Should Avoid Hisense TVs Too

Yes, LG TVs are not the only ones with this issue, let’s welcome Hisense. We all know Hisense by now right? They claim to get you Dolby Vision and Atmos at a fraction of the price compared to Sony. I think Hisense talks about having OLED as well, give me a second to look it up to make sure……no they have something called the ULED.

I know these companies mean well….hold up, I hope these companies mean well but in the end being cheap is costing you. Costing you your time to fix it and sometimes even worst, costing you the whole TV because it can’t be fixed.

Like what happened to the YouTuber Salem Techsperts. A $1,000 Hisense TV with a bad $4 chip just stop working, and no it couldn’t be fixed. So as he said, “Me and thousands of other are left with a paper weight of a $1,000 TV.” This means they where stuck like Chuck in a pickup truck on the side of the road. Hisense could have done a recall, or a rebate for a newer TV for people.

Hisense just take responsibility that you went cheap and it didn’t pay off, it backfired. Put the customer first, not your shareholders. It’s enough money out there for us all, so build a better product that gives people at most 5 years out of it.

At all cost, you may want to avoid the Hisense brand all together. The more and more I deep dive into this brand, the worst it gets. No, for real avoid this brand like the plague just because the prices are cheaper doesn’t mean the product is better or even good in this case.

Is It Worth Saving a Few Bucks on a Cheap TV?

At the end of the day, your budget is your budget but this is how you can afford the TV that you really want, save up for it. You don’t need to get it right away if you don’t have the funds for it. First, save to have an emergency savings and then save to buy a TV. You can do monthly payments, buy a open-box TV, or get a free TV that a friend is giving away.

Look online like craigslist, Marketplace, Freecycle Group, yes people are giving away free TVs. Buy a pre-owned TV from someone who just likes to upgrade all the time. Look at smaller TVs 43 inch rather than the 65 inch TV. But buying cheap is not the way to go.

You can go with older brands from the 80s and 90s that have been known to be great but the marketing is not the same. You remember Pioneer and Panasonic. Old school brands are making a come back in the 2020s. But a little later I’m going to talk about the best TV to buy to solve this handshake problem.

What’s Really Going On? The Truth Behind the Marketing Hype

I’m reading this book called, “The Trash Man, to the Cash Man” by Myron Golden, and amazing business coach. Myron teaches in this book to get off of social media platforms because they are designed to market to you. You yourself, can’t break what if happening because they’ve been at it for years and you are sucked in.

Why do I say this?

Remember before, I said who bought LG OLED TVs to people on YouTube and everyone else started following and doing the same….MKBHD.

From what we know, MKBHD tells you about only two things when it comes to tech. Which ones he think are great and which ones are really bad to stay away from. If this is the case, why does he promote LG OLEDs? At one point they were good TVs, but the turn of 2020 the world was shutting down so who really knows.

But the other YouTubers are getting paid, from your views of these TVs. I haven’t seen a top YouTuber use a TV for many years and then tell you what goes wrong with it.

Have you? No, because the TVs are in and out, they are testing out the next one. I don’t think they think, oh what if this person would like this $1,000 TV for more then just 3 years.

The YouTubers are not thinking long term and they are not thinking about your problems. See, what I learn from Myron Golden is to only think about your problems and how to solve them. This is why the LG TV handshake issue have been on my mind for months since it started with one of my customers. Their problem is likely your problem, and its now my problem to solve.

Below I’m going to tell you a few ways on how.

Why the Sony OLED Lineup Still Dominates in 2025

First, I want to say, if you have an LG TV or Hisense TV that is giving you issues you clearly know not to buy this brand again. What is the greatest brand of all time when it comes to TVs…. Sony, and Samsung is a good second place. Sony prices show you the quality of the TV and how many years it’s going to last.

Why else would they sell you a $2,300 plus OLED TV 65”. That price is big up front, but then do yourself the favor and divide it by let’s say 7. You paid $329 a year to enjoy an OLED Dolby Vision and Atmos TV for the last 7 years. Some people say the TVs last 10 to 18 years, let’s do the math on that. $2,300 divided by 18 years, comes out to $128 a year to enjoy such an incredible TV.

Reliability is what you are looking for, that iPhone, or high end Android phone in your hand tells you that story. I have a flagship Android from 2017 in 2025, my phone plays Dolby Atmos, and it’s an OLED. I can hook up two pair of headphones and each one listen to something difference. I can split the phone screen and do two things at once.

I can be in class on zoom, make that screen smaller and open up YouTube to do something else. I paid for a phone that can multi-task, you want to know what phone that was….the Samsung Note 8. I paid $960 for this phone 8 years ago, that is $120 a year I pay to enjoy my phone. I pay for nothing, it’s all free on my phone from premium music, all paid subscription applications and their libraries, Live TV, sports, PPVs, instant replays, audiobooks, downloads, and more on this one handheld device.

Own an amazing TV with OLED, Dolby Vision, and Atmos brings the movies theaters into your home on a nightly basis. You can unwind, drink alcohol, eat steak, and enjoy whatever it is you want to watch on a high end TV.

When looking to buy, always buy premium. You want this to last with the least amount of problems.

I do want you to know, from what I see in 2025 from the TVs in the United States, they are getting cheaper in price and parts. I can just look at these TVs and tell the quality has dropped a ton.

Start looking to buy a Sony from 2023, I believe this is when they had their greatest Oled TV that was voted number 1, two years in a roll.

How to Fix the LG and Hisense Handshake Issue?

I know I’m talking about the best TV to buy right but it’s also important to know how to fix this issues with LG and Hisense TVs. Some of you may love your LG and Hisense TV, that is cool I respect that. I also want to help as many people as possible fix this issue. I’ve been searching and searching for the answer, and finally the videos popped up on my YouTube feed after two months of searching.

This YouTuber helps problem shoot all TVs on the market. Thank you very much to this person for the help and 6 ways of fixing your TV handshake issues.

Have a different TV brand please visit on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@TricksTipsFix, this guy fixes a lot of things and even more TV brands. This is in your hands now everyone.

I also forgot, read the comments first, just in case. One last thing, you may need to pick up a new HDMI cable, so keep that in mind. Everyone, good luck again.

In Conclusion: LG TV Handshake Issues

It’s finally here, a way to fix the LG TV handshake issue, you too Hisense. What have we learned? Yes, to stay away from cheaper brand just because you are on a budget. Buy premium so you only have to buy once.

Speaking of premium, what streaming device do you plan to use for the next 3 to 5 or even 7 years? Please, don’t say the Onn Box, this is not a premium device just another quick cash grab but from Wal-Mart. We all have seen the death of the Amazon Firestick, and how the Fire TV Cube 3 is still using technology from the 80s.

But which premium streaming device is so far in the future they know, no one is catching up to them anytime soon? Think…..yep, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019. Now, right out of the box this device is an issue, you will need to flash the system and downgrade it back to Android 9 version 8.2.1 and lock it in place.

How else do you think you are going to get all these sideloaded apks to work? Android 11 is not it and it even blocks a ton of the APKs. Yes, on that Onn Box too. Welcome to being control. But what if you could control the device more, you know since you brought it. Well, you don’t own the software, you are licensing it. That information is that must “Agree” part when you first turn it on.

What if you can have full control over the device and watch whatever you want without paying? And no this is not illegal, it’s a loophole. I’m talking about free streaming on a Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro. Oh what is this you ask? Click on the related post below to learn more.
