It's Official, Amazon Blocking Sideloaded Apps: Here’s The Permanent Fix for 2025

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

Stop buying cheap streaming devices, Onn Boxes are next.

First, I want to say sorry to the millions of people this has happened to.

For some of you who don't live and breathe sideloading, this is a complete shock. For the ones who do, this is exactly what we saw coming.

We've been saying for years to stay away from those trash-can devices. Clearly, we didn't say it loudly enough to help everyone move to a premium streaming device in time.

Here's how crazy it is: just a few days ago, someone jumped on our Discord asking if we could load a Firestick for them. We turned them down and explained the coming issues. Then they asked about their Nvidia Shield Pro. We explained our service and gave our price.

Their response? That we were "overly charging just to sideload some apps."

And right there, that response made me realize a lot of you don't understand what's really going on.

From their point of view, it's just about loading a few dumb apps they could do themselves with a YouTube video. And in their mind, that's all it is. I can't change that, because they don't have the full picture.

But for us? We've been watching for years. This isn't about apps. This is a war on streaming piracy, and it's a battle over who controls your device, you or the corporation.

This is why we pulled the standard Jailbroken Shield TV from our shop. We couldn't hook it up to flash the system and gain full control, unlike the Nvidia Shield Pro.

I'm going to go into so much detail below, but the most important thing you need to know right now is this: Do NOT run out and buy Onn Box Pros. They are next.

Welcome to our blog, “Amazon Blocking Sideloaded Apps.” We are D3vicx (devices), and we specialize in customizing and sideloading premium streaming devices so you can enjoy free TV entertainment world wide.

If you need a device ASAP and just want to buy a future-proof solution that won't be banned, check out our Jailbroken Apple TV 4Ks and Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pros now.

For those who need to understand the full story of what's happening, let's dive in.

What Just Happened? The End of an Era for Fire TV Modding

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

Still a “trash can” device even after 10 years.

Wow. The Fire Stick has been around since 2014. For ten years, people have been sideloading them. To see what just happened to millions of people yesterday, I have no words.

I’ve been writing for years about getting away from those "trash can" devices. This summer, Amazon started blocking apps like FlixVision. That was my first clue.

It told me they are not playing around. They will not let you watch pirated streams on their devices while they lose millions of dollars. This is Amazon forcing you to stream the legal way. And let's be honest, that sucks.

No More Workarounds: Why This Block is Different

To me, there was never a real workaround. I saw Troypoint post a fix. Then all the YouTubers made videos about his idea. But even he said it would only work for a little while. (Yes, I read everything about sideloading).

I feel like everyone got a warning shot this summer. Amazon forced an update that no one could stop. That update blocked FlixVision.

When YouTubers made videos about the workaround, it actually helped Amazon. It showed Amazon how people were getting around the rules, so they could build a better block.

This is why I don't make videos. They just help the companies stop us.

So, which apps are being blocked? Is it all of them?

Which Apps Are Being Blocked? (Downloader, Kodi, SmartTube, etc.)

I don't have a Fire Stick to check, but it seems like all of them. Some people think, "Well, Kodi is safe." But Apple can already block parts of Kodi on the Apple TV. And Amazon just blocked the Downloader app on their newest Fire Stick Select. I don't think any app used for streaming piracy is safe.

Don't think Apple and Google are not watching. They are. Soon, they will block IPTV players once they figure out how. The apps might be in the store, but you won't be able to add illegal streams.

These companies are not playing around. Things are changing, and fast.

They want their money. If that leaves you broke, they don't care.

So, how much is free TV worth to you? I ask because I know what's next: the Onn Box Pro is their next target.

Warning: Don't Run Out and Buy an Onn Box Pro. They Are Next.

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

It’s a ton of the popular YouTube Channels.

Where do I even start with these? I had a bad feeling about them. Then I saw Walmart was the one selling them, and I knew it was a bad choice.

I live by a saying: “If you buy cheap, you buy twice.”

That’s what’s happening. But with streaming devices, people seem to buy four or five times before they get the hint: “Hey, this isn’t working.”

I know because I did the same thing for years. From 2014 to 2018, I kept buying Fire Sticks that always had buffering problems. I finally figured out why the buffering was happening. But now, it doesn't even matter, because all the sideloaded apps are being blocked.

To save you from wasting more money on trash-can devices, let me show you what is already happening to the Onn Boxes.

Google's Crackdown is Inevitable: The Pattern is Clear

Google is following in Amazon's footsteps. Here’s the truth: You don’t control the Onn Box. Walmart and Google do.

A few summers ago, an update was pushed that GEO-locked all devices outside the USA. This made no sense, because Walmart sells these boxes in Canada, too!

This forced people to start using a VPN just to use their device. That was Walmart and Google's first warning shot.

Next, there was another forced update to Android 14 that bricked many Onn Boxes (meaning it completely broke them).

Did Walmart replace all the broken devices? Only if you bought your box within the last 12 months and you had the receipt. What about the people using them outside the USA? They were out of luck. They had to trash the box.

Yeah, I’ll give you a second to let that sink in.

Let's keep going. So, what is next?

Why Budget Android TV Devices Won't Survive the Coming Bans

Stop buying cheap streaming devices that are on Google’s certified Android device list. You have no control over the updates. And with every update, they can block the features you need for sideloading.

Most of you are on Android 14. Can you tell me one thing on that device that you truly control? Your apps can still be disabled without your permission. These are all setup moves and warning shots. The big ban is coming.

So, what can be done to avoid this mess altogether?

The Only Future-Proof Solution: A De-Googled, Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro

I’m going to be straight with you. You have two choices. You can try to do it yourself with other devices. But you will have to make big trade-offs, like losing Dolby Vision. Let's be honest, you were never getting real 4K and Dolby Vision on those cheap devices anyway. Their old hardware can't handle it.

If you want to go that route, you need an Android open-source project (AOSP) device. This means a device that doesn't rely on Google.

I’ve been watching a company called BuzzTV. I think they will bring some great stuff to the market. But again, no Dolby Vision or Atmos.

Then there is the Formuler Z12 Ultra. It looks incredible and has Dolby Vision and Atmos. It runs on Android 12 and seems to have very little Google software, which is good. It's a solid AOSP device.

But here’s the surprise: the Nvidia Shield is also an AOSP device at its core.

All Nvidia Shields run Android TV. This is a version of Android built on that open-source core, but it includes a TV interface and, most importantly, Google services. This is the very thing that lets Google block your apps.

So why did we choose the Nvidia Shield Pro? One word: Control.

What "De-Googled" Actually Means for Your Streaming Freedom

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

De-Googled Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro, Future-Proofing

I love the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019. I have spent over five years mastering this one device. I believe it is the greatest streaming device on earth, and no one is catching up anytime soon.

This is the device people will look back on and wish they had bought, like the "BlackBerry" of phones. It was just built better.

So why do some YouTubers trash it? For clicks. They have no clue what they are doing.

Have they ever shown you how to flash the system? Have they shown you how to downgrade to a more stable version of Android to take full control? No.

Mastering a device is different from just talking about it. We had to think: how do we stop Google's ban?

The answer: De-Google the device.

Google's software has nothing to do with the powerful Nvidia hardware. To save the body, we cut off the tail. In other words, we remove all of Google's useless software and bloatware that only exists to control what you can do.

That’s what "De-Googled" means. We strip out everything that gives Google power over your device.

How a Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro Bypasses Current and Future Blocks

I can only tell you how our Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro works. The software work must be done first. Because we do this all the time, it takes us less than 30 minutes.

For someone new, it could take days. This is what I was thinking about when that guy on Discord said, "It's just loading some apps." Not in 2025, it's not.

We set the device to a stable version of Android. Then, the de-Googling happens. If you don’t do it the right way, Google's services will turn back on and disable your apps without your permission. This is already happening to Shield owners who don't know how to stop it.

With Google's services gone, what's left?

Our Elite System.

We load this onto every device we sell. With our de-Googled Shield Pro, you are now future-proofed from the sideloading bans. We've made your device invisible to Google's control list.

This isn’t just about apps. It’s about who is in control. With our device, it’s you.

Beyond Amazon and Google: Why the Nvidia Shield's Hardware is Unbeatable

Amazon-Blocking-Sideloaded-Apps

Computer hardware and software

Let's talk about power. Amazon and Google devices run on old, slow 32-bit hardware and software. The Nvidia Shield runs on modern, fast 64-bit hardware and software.

I’ll keep this simple.

Think of 32-bit and 64-bit as two different types of brains.

  • A 32-bit brain can only handle a small amount of information at once. It's slow and gets overwhelmed easily. This is why cheap sticks buffer.

  • A 64-bit brain can handle a massive, almost unlimited amount of information. It's powerful and fast.

The Nvidia Shield’s 64-bit power means it can do more, faster, and without breaking a sweat. It’s built to last for years, not become trash in a few months.

Why is the D3vicx (devices) Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro Different?

What makes us so sure our Nvidia Shield Pro won't be part of the sideload ban when Google comes knocking? I’m happy you asked.

First, we had to find a Shield Pro that already had its apps disabled by Google. Then, we started testing our "de-Googling system" on it.

Once the de-Googling was done, we reinstalled the same apps. This is where the Android software version makes all the difference.

On version 8.2.2 and up, Google can turn its services back on. I didn’t like that. But on our chosen version, 8.2.1, this doesn't happen. The settings stop changing on their own. Everything stays put.

It’s so important to remove all three: Play Services, Play Protect, and the Play Store. I learned there is nothing in that store you can’t get from a different Android TV app store. Yeah, we just replaced it.

The biggest difference between us and everyone else is our Elite System. We designed it special for each device we offer.

For the Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro, the Elite System is a custom launcher that hosts 55 APKs working together as one. This gives you access to free TV entertainment worldwide. Our system has no limits, and our setup is the same every time.

You can just click and play. No buffering or lagging. You know why? Because you’re going to plug in an Ethernet cable instead of using slow WiFi.

The only other device on this level is our Jailbroken Apple TV 4K. To learn more about that step up you can check out this blog, “Apple TV 4K Jailbreak 2025: Endless Entertainment Free (Limited Time Offer)”.

The Great Purge: Which Streaming Devices Will Survive?

Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro home screen no ads

Let's talk about which devices will still be working in 2025, 2026, and beyond. The safe devices are the ones on the Android open-source project (AOSP) list. We can mark those as safe.

But what about devices on Google's certified Android list? Which of those can last?

It has to be a device you can control. A device you can "flash" with new software. For Android devices, that really only leaves the Nvidia Shield Pro (not the cheaper Tube version).

The next one is the Apple TV 4K. I think more people will move to it because of its smooth interface. It's one of the best devices out there, right next to the Nvidia Shield Pro.

But sideloading on Apple TV has its flaws. Apple can easily remove sideloaded apps. An update could block streaming piracy at any time.

Some people say, "Just use a VPN." But what if Apple blocks VPNs too? Then you'd have to change to use your DNS, which slows your device down a lot.

So, I'm crossing my fingers for the Apple TV, but only if it's running a system like ours.

Hands down, the winners are all AOSP devices and the Nvidia Shield Pro. They are built to last.

FAQ: Amazon Blocking Sideloaded Apps

Q1: Is it true Amazon blocked sideloading on Fire Sticks? I just tried and it failed.

A: Yes, it's 100% true. As of now, Amazon has hit the kill switch. This is a system-level block that stops you from installing sideloaded apps, including essential tools like Downloader. This is a server-side change from Amazon. There is no workaround. The era of the Fire Stick is over.

Q2: Why shouldn't I just buy a Walmart Onn Box Pro instead?

A: The Onn Box Pro is the next Fire Stick. It runs on Google's Android TV OS, and Google is watching Amazon's move closely. A similar crackdown is not just likely, it's inevitable. Buying an Onn Box now is like buying a Fire Stick six months ago. You're just waiting for the same ban to happen all over again.

Q3: What does "De-Googled" mean for an Nvidia Shield Pro?

A: It means we've surgically removed Google's ability to control your device. We strip out Google's core services, the very tools they use to push updates and disable your apps. This future-proofs your Shield Pro, making it immune to the bans that are killing Amazon and Google's own devices. You get the hardware, without the spy in the house.

Q4: How is a Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro different from a standard one?

A: A standard Shield is a fantastic device, but it plays by Google's rules. Ours doesn't. We de-Google it and then load our Elite System, a custom-built suite of 55 APKs (app) working together. You're not just getting a device; you're getting a complete, plug-and-play entertainment hub that corporations can't touch.

Q5: Will an Apple TV work as a future-proof device?

A: The Apple TV is a powerful device, but it's a different kind of fight. Apple's ecosystem is a fortress they control completely. They can and will remove sideloaded apps with updates. For the ultimate in power, control, and a true "set it and forget it" experience, our de-Googled Nvidia Shield Pro remains the undefeated champion.
